  • Playing in the dark

    May 28, 2017

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will HAVE the light of life.” John 8:12

  • Line in the sand

    May 21, 2017

In John 8, we meet a woman caught in sin who thought she was about to breathe her last, but instead she receives an offer of life and forgiveness that is beyond belief. Jesus offers her a new life, one where she doesn’t have to be defined by her past, her sin or the opinions of others.

  • the perfect gift

    May 14, 2017

What is the perfect gift that all mothers desire on a day to recognize them? Flowers, chocolates and jewelry might be nice or even the whole family going to church together, but how about a gift of the "will"? What if our wills could reflect that of our Father in heaven? As we hear his voice and heed his authority, we will then begin to do his will and give him glory.

  • Let's eat

    May 7, 2017

We all can understand what it means to be physically hungry, but do we realize that we also have a spiritual hunger? God has a meal for you that goes to the deepest places of the soul. His name is Jesus Christ. He is to be "eaten," digested by our "belief" – not a "hobby" that we tend to once in a while – but our very sustenance.

  • what say you?

    April 30, 2017

This is legal jargon that we associate to someone make a declaration or decision. For all of us, we are left with a decision spiritually – to decide who is Jesus Christ. Is he the Messiah, the Son of God, the One who took away the sins of the world at the cross? There are many witnesses in John 5 that give us their testimonies, their stories: John the Baptist, the works that Jesus did, his own Father, and even the Scriptures themselves. In the end, we must declare what we believe about Jesus Christ!

  • dumb questions?

    April 23, 2017

Is it possible to ask a dumb question? I'm sure people are divided. In my estimation it seems like some questions are more obvious, but there is a deeper idea at work. Jesus in John 5 seems to be asking a dumb question of a paralytic... "do you want to be healed?" What Jesus is really probing at is a deeper healing than physical – to a spiritual level of the heart. God loves holiness while he hates sin.

  • triptych

    April 16, 2017

We all live and exist in "hard places." Even our specific lives and our hearts could be described as hard places. But there is good news of hope. We worship a God who has a history of going to hard places because of his deep love for people. When he enters those hard places with us, there is an amazing result.

  • trending

    April 9, 2017

In John 3, we are re-introduced to John the Baptist, and the story is one of "trending" downward for him. He would eventually be in prison, but in the meantime, his disciples were leaving him to follow Jesus. How would he react? He must increase but I must decrease. For John, it was about embracing the idea of being less, humility for the sake of Jesus Christ!

  • currency

    April 2, 2017

In John 3, we experience the scope, the gift, the rescue, and the duration of God’s love for us in Christ - the God who takes the broken and makes them whole.

  • madness

    March 26, 2017

God is angered when the place where He meets and is in close proximity with mankind in worship becomes a circus.

  • Wedding day

    March 19, 2017

When I think of a wedding, one word comes to mind... JOY! In John 2, Jesus is invited to a wedding. Everything was perfect until the wine ran out; it was at this point where joy left the party. The answer? Jesus Christ, the one who is generous in providing and gracious in purifying in giving what is needed to all... JOY!

  • Come and See

    March 12, 2017

Imagine sitting across the table from Jesus Christ with him asking you.. "what do you want?" What would be on your list... a bigger bank account, better marriage, more obedient kids? Many times this is what we want, but what we might not realize is that we sit across from the Lamb of God, the Messiah, the Son of God, the Son of Man who offers something much deeper... a holiness and a relationship that is transformational... "come and see"!

  • mistaken identity

    March 5, 2017

Have you ever been mistaken for someone else – an identity mix-up? I'm sure that we all have at one point in time, but the real question is have you ever been mistaken for Jesus? In the first chapter of John, we meet another John – John the Baptist – who is doing what I would call "multi-tasking." He is exulting Jesus Christ and making Him great while at the same time minimizing himself. When this happens, identities change and can be mistaken for Jesus Christ.

  • In The Beginning

    February 26, 2017

"In the beginning" is where the gospel writer John begins to tell his story about Jesus Christ. What he tells us about Jesus on the one hand is vast and majestic – from the beginning, with God, God himself – and on the other hand intimate and close – the light that is the light of man. The question that lingers between the lines of the first few verses for us is what do we believe about Jesus Christ? This is the most important question that exists for all of mankind.
