Sunday School
It is our hope that the plan for childhood discipleship at Riverwood would encourage and enhance the discipleship efforts of the parents and guardians of Riverwood kids.
Open Arms Nursery
Sundays at 9:45am & 11:15am
Open Arms Nursery provides infants through toddlers with a routine of welcome, Bible stories, playtime and snack. Once a toddler is three and potty trained, they “graduate” to the Jr. Pre K class.
Preschool Classes
Sundays at 9:45am & 11:15am
Preschool Classes are open to children who are three years old through Kindergarten. Here they will enjoy a time of singing and dancing, a Bible story from the Gospel Project curriculum, and a corresponding craft or game to develop the truth from God’s word.
Elementary Classes
Sundays at 9:45am & 11:15am
Elementary Classes are open to kids in 1st through 4th grade. Kids will participate in a Bible lesson from the Gospel Project curriculum, worship, and an application game or craft.
What we teach
The Gospel Project
For Riverwood's Kids Ministry, it is all about Jesus.
That is why we use The Gospel Project curriculum to teach our kids the stories and truths found in God's word. The Gospel Project is a three-year journey through the entirety of Scripture, showing that every story centers around the cross.
Every child
“It’s Just a Phase” Project
We believe that understanding the phase of life that each child is in will help families and Kids Ministry volunteers communicate God’s truth in a way that each kid can understand and respond to.
That is why we use the “It’s Just a Phase: So Don’t Miss It” project by Reggie Joiner and Kristen Ivy to inform how we do Kids Ministry at Riverwood. Each phase of a kid’s life presents opportunities for the gospel and love of Jesus Christ to be made known.

Embrace their Physical Needs
- Am I safe?
- Am I able?
- Am I okay?

Engage their Interests
- Do I have your attention?
- Do I have what it takes?
- Do I have friends?

Affirm their Personal Journey
- Who do I like?
- Who am I?
- Where do I belong?

Resources for Parents
Parents Facebook Group
A private Facebook group where parents, grandparents, and guardians of the kids of Riverwood Chapel can connect with Riverwood’s Kids Ministry and each other.
Child Dedication at Riverwood
Parents have the opportunity to dedicate their children to God as a part of our worship services. We believe that parents dedicating their children is a great step in their own personal commitment to raising their child in a way that will bring honor and glory to God.
