Worship on the Back Lawn

Sunday, June 18, 2017

All of the other Sundays of the year, we worship in different services, but today we come together to worship, to fellowship, to be together as one. This morning we are going to examine what I call “an outdoor Psalm,” as we immerse ourselves in the midst of God’s creation right in our own backyard.  From trees to grass to clouds to birds hills, water, sun, and even mankind… all of them we find in Psalm 104. All of them point us in the direction of the one who is the creator to be worshipped.  “Bless the Lord, O my soul!”

Pulled Over

It is a fact of life that everyone fails and messes up in many different areas, if not all areas of our lives. The real question is what is next. Where do we go with the sin in our lives? Psalm 32 provides the answer, and it isn't in ignoring and staying silent but in confession. When we confess our sins and transgressions, the one whom we sin against offers us forgiveness!    Click here to listen to or download the mp3 of the sermon only.

Are We There Yet?

Summer is a time for travel. Every journey starts somewhere and ends somewhere, but the real challenge is the in between. In Psalm 122, David receives an invitation to a journey to God's house. His vision for what awaits him there - a place of security, community, and justice - motivates him to give up everything and invite others to join him on the journey. Where are you going? Have you responded to the invitation to journey to God's house? What do you need to let go of to run the race?
