  • Breaking bread

    with Kent social services

    Riverwood joins together with other Kent churches to provide volunteers who prepare and serve dinner at Kent Social Services on Sundays.


    Riverwood provides volunteers the second Sunday of every month.

    Kent Social Services is dedicated to enhancing the nutrition of low-income people in the Kent area. Hot meals are offered at no cost five days a week and typically include 50 to 60 individuals per day. 

  • Early Care at Summit Christian school

    Early Care is a program designed to make creative, constructive use of the time before class begins to read and build relationships with students of refugee families.

  • faithful servant care center

    A Christian-based health care organization with a commitment to providing quality urgent health care services to the uninsured in the Greater Akron area. Services are provided at no cost to the patient by professional, licensed physicians and clinicians.



  • food ministry

    Our Food Ministry pantry is open Fridays from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Photo I.D. is required.

     

    There are three ways in which you can help:

    You can donate Canned Tuna and Chicken, Dish Soap, Paper Towels, Hand Soap, Toilet Paper, Peanut Butter or Spaghetti Sauce.

     

    You can pack grocery bags every Thursday at 10:00 am.


    Or become a Contact Person who meets with the families who come for food on Fridays.


  • international friendship connection

    A ministry of nine local churches, our mission is to reach out to International Students at local universities to provide comfort, hospitality, and kindness through of variety of services.


    Any questions on any of the ministries related to International Friendship Connection can be sent to Kathy Hayden.


    Volunteers reach out to students through these activities and services:

    • SHOPPING CARPOOL - Once a month shopping trips to local stores.
    • HOSPITALITY - Students are matched with Americans who include them in their family experiences and traditions (aka Host Families).
    • HOLIDAY PARTIES - Students experience American holidays and traditions through sponsored dinners and parties.
    • SIGHT SEEING - Niagara Falls, Hale Farm and Village, Amish Country, Cleveland’s Museums, canoe trips... All this and more!
    • CONVERSATION CORNERS - help students use and understand English.


  • nursing home ministry

    The Nursing Home Ministry is a caring ministry helping people who live in an adult care facility.


    WAYS TO BE INVOLVED:

    • One-on-one visitation
    • Join the Bible Study on Mondays at 10:00 am
    • Reading to residents
    • Playing instruments or singing
    • Being a part of creating a Worship Service on Sunday

  • Refugee resettlement

    Refugee families arrive with few belongings, a difficult past and high hopes for the future.  For more information or to become involved contact Pastor Lon Snyder.  


    Riverwood partners with World Relief Akron to engage our new community members in meaningful relationships and shepherd them towards a life of self-sufficiency.


    Many of the students at Summit Christian School in Cuyahoga Falls are children from refugee families.  Early Care is a program designed to make creative, constructive use of the time before class begins to read and build relationships with members of our refugee communities.

    We provide transportation to our neighbors who want to attend the Sunday services.  Please call 330-678-7000 and choose ext 105. Leave a message after the pause and someone will contact you.

    Saturday, October 28

    11:00 am - 1:00 pm

    Join us for a fun fall event with carnival games, yummy treats, food and more! Children 12 years old and younger invite your friends and family and wear your best, non-scary costumes.
